capillaries burst on face

Capillaries burts how it happens?

Capillaries burst on the face is a bruise caused by injury to the skin. Capillaries(small blood vessels) are present beneath the facial skin. When these capillaries get dilated or broken due to various conditions, they give a reddish appearance to the skin. Such a condition is referred to as a capillary burst on the face.

Different possible causes of capillary burst

Skin trauma

Is caused due to harsh treatments on the skin surface. It can be in the way of teasing pimples or acne, exfoliation, rigorous microdermabrasion, or irritation from cosmetics.

Sun exposure and environmental factors

Excessive sun exposure can cause blood vessels to dilate and skin tan. When the tan peels off it can cause the blood vessels to rupture under the cheeks and nose. Hot weather can also cause blood vessel dilation and breakage of vessels.

Rosacea

It is a chronic skin condition that causes redness and inflammation of facial skin. This condition can last for a few weeks. Environmental conditions, lifestyle (alcohol consumption), and biological conditions(pregnancy)  can cause flare-ups of rosacea.

Aging

Due to aging, the skin becomes thin and loses collagen. This loosens the skin and the capillaries lack a firm bed. This can cause the capillaries to burst as it gets entangled.

Prevention

  • Regular use of sunscreen on the skin when outdoors along with headgear can be a good preventive measure.
  • Habits of squeezing, and picking acne, pimples, and blackheads should be done away with.
  • Choice of skin care products, exfoliation, and microdermabrasion should be done cautiously.
  • The use of anti-inflammatory products, antioxidants, and skin serum (Vitamin C, E) can be preventive in capillary bursts on the face.
  • Drinking lots of water, and moisturizing the facial skin can soothe the pressure of dilated capillaries.
  • Laser therapy under guidance from dermatologists can also be a preventive measure.

When to consult a doctor

Whenever redness under the skin of the cheeks, or around the nose is seen it is better to consult a doctor. The doctor can tell if it is a capillary burst on the face or rosacea. However, both conditions can be only controlled but not totally cured. Right medication and advice to use correct skin care products are good practices.
